Here is my pit with added modifications. It was a 150 gallon propane tank, until a friend of the family transformed it to a nice trailer pit. I have plenty of storage with locks underneath as well as a job-box inbetween a mounted cooler and wood storage bin. I decided to add a small direct cooker mounted on top of the firewood bin for burgers, fajitas, or anything that can cook quiskly with out having to fire up the big pit. The main chamber has four removable racks and the firebox has a hatch for cooking beans or chili, or even a steak or warming tortillas and making quesadillas. I even have a 5 gallon water cooler mounted in the front with ice cold water for those long cooking sessions. I could not be happier!

Looks like a very good cooker there. I like the idea of the direct heat on top of the firebox. Looks like it puts out pretty good food also.

Sir:
Meat looks good.... MMMmmmmm....
Having just purchased a used unit myself, do you find the fenders get in your way???? Bumping your legs etc.???
I was thinking of making the axle shorter and offsetting the frame around the wheels...... What do you think??? Thanks Tommy

Toconnel50, My fenders are fine, not in my way. It would get annoying if they were so I might try to move them if I were you, it could get dangerous. Thanks for the comments also!

Nice Rig Ron. I noticed in one pick you have a cast iron griddle setting on the table. Thats my second love. Cast Iron / Dutch Oven Cooking.

Nice looking color to those chicken quarters too.

Man, that flip top on the fire box is great! Why didn't I think of that. Set a pot on there large enough to keep smoke from escaping. Consider that idea stolen. You made my day!

I don't think you'd want to shorten the axle. It'd start getting "tippy" and not in a good way. Plus, the tire/bearings under the cooker would be taking most of the load and a failure could quickly happen on a hot day.
