Congrats on the twins My girls were born at 33 weeks and weighed 4 lbs. The NICU was incredible. They did a wonderful job assuring us everything was going to be fine. They just turned 2 and have officially caught up to full term babies. Congrats again!!
Oh yeah, best of luck on the restaurant, I'm looking forward to making the trip north to eat there. _________________ Chris

Thanks for the comments from Matoon! I have a son that was born at 26 weeks 19 years ago. He weighed in at just under 1 pound. Now he is in the IL national guard and over 6 foot!! All the drugs they are using today on premies were tested on him at the Portsmouth VA Naval Hospital.
Well here are some more pics of the restaurant as I am progressing. We got alot done today that I still need to get more pics of for yall.

I will be putting in hardwood floors within the year. I am just out of money now. I took that checkerboard and mounted it on an oak plant stand for folks to play some checkers if they want too. My father in law made it years ago and it was just gathering dust in his garage so I put it to use. I will put it under all the antique kitchen utensils on the wall. Today was fun. I got 3/4's of the kitchen painted and alot more grease cleaned up. My wife painted the baseboard in the dining room. As I am typing this my wife is sewing the edges on the table cloths we picked up at the fabric store today. Went to Wal Mart and picked up some plastic that will cover the fabric. Red checker board material. She has a pattern for the stools at the counter and is going to upholester them for more comfort. Gonna look nice when she is done I am sure.

Hey Mutha,
I got that rav pin across the street in a junk store for a buck!! I went back and looked today and got several more items. They go to estate sales every weekend to stock their store and have a ton of stuff. I have to move boxes and forage to find anything in there as it is PACKED with stuff. hehe But that is part of the fun! The cast iron is a collection I started about 10 years ago by going to auctions and estate sales. Those are all Griswold Skillets. Made in Erie PA. I have em sized from number 3-10 on the walls there with some of the different corn bread pans and molds. I have some more just have to dig em out. They were made in the 1890's for the majority.

I got some griswold I could part with at a fair price if you are interested?
Ok, are you doing a test cook & Serve with non-paying customers before the grand opening??
Do A private party of friends only for a dry run, the opening day could set your reputation either as great or mediocre, Do Not chance it on paying customers!!
Family and business associates only, and try to find the most brutally honest people you can for this.
(congrats on the newest GK's BTW)
it will cost a couple bucks, but you should get the kinks worked out before serving your hopefully faithful customers.
he best of luck to you, and I hope to visit next time I am heading south.
I'll PM you with the griswold iron I have with model numbers, And the stuff you have hanging, Bolt it to the wall so it doesn't leave like your toilet guts did!! you'd be amazed at what people will steal, darned barstards! _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Hey all,
Today was a helluva day. I called to have the HD come and inspect on thursday or friday. My inspector told me she had a death in the family and that I had to have my inspection today or have to wait until next tuesday. I had planned to open on Sept 1st. So I told her to come and she told me she would be there at 2 pm. We busted out butts!!! Got it done and passed the inspection!!! Whooo hoooo! To add to the frantic pace of the up coming inspection I had $2500 in grocerys delivered 30 mins after I called her. We put all of that way and still got it clean.
The only items she tagged me on was:
1, cleaning a baseboard in the kitchen.
2, Painting a shelf
3, cleaning the caulk on the bathroom sinks.
I completed them all today.
So I am good to open on saturday!!

To Cool! Way to go.
So Sat. the 1rst will be the opening?
Have you set the menu yet?
Run ads in the local swapper paper and comunity paper? Sent kids out with flyers in the parking lots at the grocery stores?
I don't know what the local economy is their, but if their is a manufacturing base of anykind, talk to the local workers that go to the other stores for lunches and let them know how reasonable your meals are. And much more tasty! |

Todd,
Congradulations on your opening date. I have been watching this thread and really appreciate the hard work you have put in to get this business off the ground.
It is always a lot of hard work just to get that first customer thru the doors.
Much success and enjoy yourself.
