We moved from Florida to Nevada. I hauled my big smoker out here when we moved. Now I realize that wood for smoking is pretty hard to find and expensive if you do find it. But you can find Mesquite. I was about to buy a load of Mesquite when someone pops in and say "be sure there was no mistletoe on it" Well, How am I to tell if it had mistletoe on it?
Plus I hear Mesquite is a heavy smoke and you need to "go lightly" that is hard to do in a stick burner with no other hard wood to burn.
I just need to go on a road trip and get some wood? |

I believe Mistletoe has some toxicity in it, not dangerous but can cause some tummy problems.
See this: https://www.poison.org/articles/2015-dec/mistletoe
BTW poison ivy can be very toxic even when burned.
Someone burned a large brush pile with the stuff included, standing down wind....nearly killed him. The surgeons had to remove one lung and a portion of the other.
There are some online BBQ suppliers that sell sticks by the pallet. Don't remember who.
Other wise you might be left to getting them from Ace Hardware. They sell B&B in bags. Not cheap but affordable. I plan to order a couple each of pecan and apple. I bought some hickory from a couple of the big box home improvement centers.
Up here in Norther Michigan we have a massive amount of cherry orchards but I will not be using that stuff. The growers spray tons of chemicals on the trees, everything from poisons to anti mold.mildew and other who knows what.
