oak, apple and cherry wood. The greatest wife any man could ever ask for. She brought me more smokers, grills, cookware, cooking gadgets, utensils than I could count. Yes, it was our money but she wanted me to know she supported my hobby in every way possible. There was never any limit to how much equipment I could have in our backyard.

We live in the Kansas City area and despite having hundreds of outstanding BBQ establishments, she always resisted eating Q from places other than our backyard. I could get her to eat Joes Kansas City (Oklahoma Joes) and an occasional trip to Jack Stack or Q39 but she always downplayed their food, even though I loved it.

We have been married 40 years and together 41. In our early days she owned a large 24 hour restaurant that served 24 hour breakfast, BBQ and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. I would cook for her on my off days from my real job. We both ended up with corporate jobs that moved us both several times and ultimately to the KC area. She never liked the job but did it for the betterment of our family. She always loved hosting, entertaining and cooking. Until she got sick she would do the sides and I would man the smokers/grills.....often having parties of 150 or more.

She was a huge sports fan.....originally being from Sherman Tx and becoming an Arkansas Razorback fan as a young girl. Our family were season ticket holders of Razorback sports football and basketball, doing 3 day weekends with our kids for games, vacations for bowl games and basketball tournaments were our norm. We have been Chiefs and Royals season ticket holders for approaching 25 years, she loved to run tailgates for 25 people or more. Since she has been sick we have watched as the youngsters have taken over the responsibilities of tailgates with the knowledge she has passed on to them. She saw to it that we have been to Super Bowls, World Series, MLB All Star games, Home Run Derby's....all the things guys love to do. She was one of the boys.

She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer in June 2012. Took 150 rounds of chemo cocktails over 5 years to see 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild born. She got to go and see her beloved Royals win the 2015 World Series. She always considered cancer to be a bit of an inconvenience rather than something that defined her. In May 2016 she was diagnosed with widespread brain cancer, with a prognossis of 6-8 months to live she made it 19 months and lived as much as her body would allow her to. I was fortunate enough to be off 2 years in the last 30 months to be with her, to take care of her, as she never wanted to leave her home in the end stages of her life. Her next to last meal I was able to feed her beautiful med rare prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes and fresh slow cooked green beans. She ate like a champ. She spent the last 3 weeks of her life in and out of consciousness but could always smile upon awakening. I loved this beautiful woman more than life itself.

To all you guys out there, if you got a girl that loves you, treat her like the most important person on this earth. Me and our children laid our Peggy (Peggels, Pooh, Shorty) to rest on Thursday and my life will never be the same. I must find a new normal and continue being a good loving father to our 3 adult children.

I know The Ring is limping towards it's final resting place and probably very few of the hundreds of online friends I made on here will ever see this. But I felt a real need to eulogize this beautiful woman on here. God bless you all.

Todd

No words cover your loss my friend. Hold tight to the years of memories - good and bad. As my father said when my mother passed, she was a keeper. God bless...
