I have a get together in August for 20-30 people and was thinking of doing some pulled beef. Never done pulled beef and I've searched the forum without much luck.

Anyone out have a good pulled beef recipe, of should I just stick with going a couple pork butts.

Chuck roast makes for great pulled beef, one of my favorite things to smoke. I just rub it with my favorite rub and smoke to an internal temp to about 195-200, depending on the feel. Really good stuff.

The benefit for cooking chuck roasts is their size. You don't have to spend the money on an entire brisket if you're just wanting to smoke some good beef. In some cases, chuck isn't that much cheaper per pound than brisket...it's just you can buy 2-3 pounds versus 15 pounds.

When you're feeding 30 people, that advantage really isn't an advantage any more.

I would buy a brisket, smoke it, wrap it, get it just beyond tender, and tear that thing apart.
