Shotgun Pete's closed it's doors on Saturday, Sept 2nd.
We lost our building due to the owners renovating and bringing in a new tenant...a Taco Shop.
It was in my lease that they could give me a 90 day notice to reclaim the building so they exercised that clause and I am no longer open. I looked for the entire time, trying to find a new location that was suitable and afordable. No luck there, so I may try my hand at catering for a while.
During our 7 1/2 years operating as a BBQ Joint in Columbia, MO we quickly gained recognition in the BBQ World.
We were ranked the #1 BBQ in Columbia on Urban Spoon after only 6 months in business.
Shortly after that we climbed to the #1 BBQ in Mid-Missouri on Yelp and Trip Advisor, with a certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
We were listed at #16 on the Top 25 BBQ's in the state of Missouri.
The S.E.C put us at THE BBQ place in the state.
We made the Thrillist at #3
We made the covers of Inside Columbia Magazine and Missouri Life Magazine and was the feature restaurant in Rural Missouri Magazine.
Inside Columbia put us on the list of 100 places every Columbian must try.
...and ESPN Game Day even gave us shout outs on live TV during Mizzou Games!
Several rock stars and Musicians visited us, including:
The late great Johnny Winter, Vinnie Paul of Hellyeah and Pantera, Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett from Mudvayne and Hellyeah,
Eric Church, Corey Smith, Jamey Johnson, Cowboy Eddie, Cole Swindell, Machine Gun Kelly, Vinnie Brown from Naughty by Nature and the rest of the group. Wilco, Cody Jenks, Dierks Bentley, Chris Stapleton, and The Spin Doctors ...just to name a few.
...also the ESPN crew many times. _________________ Reverse flow smoker made by my dad "Shotgun Pete" Peters over 30 years ago!

Wow, I cannot believe that it has been more than seven years since I read your first post about opening the original location.
It is a bit dead here, as you have probably noticed, but please keep us posted on how the switch to catering goes. |

Wow, I don't frequent TSR nearly as often as I used to, but this is truly sad to read Pete. I remember reading the thread and watching as you posted almost daily pics of the business as you built it. I wish you the best in your catering business. _________________ "The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits" - Albert Einstein |
