I could really put a vent on it about anywhere, all it’ll really cost me is paint. I’d just like to exhaust my options before I go to hacking into it . I’m really thinking I’ve got a huge amount of radiant heat coming off of there to do that, I was hoping to smooth that out a bit into just a general ambient heat with the insulation.

Do you have room in the FB to tack a couple angles to support a temp sacrificial plate with some rock wool or whatever above it?...

I’ve already got one in there, with a 1” air gap above it: I guess I could just insulate that gap as well and get the same effect, I was just wondering what direct fire and smoke would do to the insulation, to say nothing of any outgassing or anything and it’s effect on the food in the smoker..

I realize you have one already, just thinking along the lines of a double glazed window. I have seen them make a 20-30 degree difference in radiant heat...
