24"x48" pipe .25" needs a 7234.56 sq. in. fire box.

My fire box internally measures 21.5" Deep by 20.0" wide by 27.0" tall for 11610.0 sq. in.

That puts me at 160.5%

I am going to add a warmer right on top of the firebox, with access to heat ducted from the FB and smoke from the CC.

The extra room in the fore box came from adding to the bottom of it so that I have 5.5" of room under the fire for ash.

The opening needed for the required fire box ( 7234.56 ) is 65 sq. in.

The opening needed for the firebox I have is 92.88 sq. in.

I DO NOT have the room to make my opening any bigger, will this hurt this cooker running it this way?????

Why did you feel the need to add 5.5" to your firebox? Why not just raise the basket on the normal size firebox?
At your current situation you only need a half moon 15.5" wide x 7.75" tall. Why cant you put that opening on your firebox?

Kam,

The firebox was heigthened to provide space for the ash, this is why I`m asking questions before cutting.... cause I`m new to this... Very Happy

The opening for the smaller size fire box is a half moon is 20.5" wide @ the top and 4.25" tall in the center.

The 4.25" section is 6.625" wide @ the bottom then it tapers up to the 20.5" wide top.

This gives me a 1.5" grease bridge.

Is my opening sized correctly for the smaller firebox????

If I reduce the height by 5" would that place the fire to close to the FB/CC opening????........Around 17" from the fire plate.

Phil.
