I've been using a Maverick ET 733 for several years. Love it, it seems to have all the range I could use. It advertises 300 feet, I probably use 150 feet and never have any communication problems. Probes have held up well. I will say this, probe wires do much better just being wiped with a damp cloth......if you put them in a sink of water or dishwasher you will probably have to lay them out in a warm oven or put a blow dryer on them to get them to dry.

I still use my ET-73's. They are the older models and can be had for less than the new ones.

I'm still using the ET-73 as well, with no complaints...and I just looked, they are now less than $30. Shocked

Had an ET-732.

Did not have luck with it.

I had to buy new probes every few months, and when the sender died after a year or so, I gave up.

I would look for other options.

Have not tried it yet, but the "Smoke" by Thermoworks looks to be a really nice unit.

$100 though, so it's not cheap, but it allows you to set high and low alarms (for the smoker and the meat).

Like k.a.m. and bucket, I'm happy with the 73. I do have a 732, and haven't had any problems.None of them get used much, but the 73 is probably six years old.
