I usually use Shagbark Hickory to smoke with but my wood guy just has Pignut Hickory , for anyone that has used it is it a similar smoke profile ? stronger , lighter smoke flavor and any help would be much appreciated .

To me, it is a lighter and sweeter smoke. I have only had access to some twice and I liked it. It wasn't as harsh as shagbark hickory in my opinion.
