Gave the Disco a break and used the Flat top for this cook

Cooked classic Japanese Teppanyaki meal: fried rice, mixed veggies, shrimp and salmon in traditional Teriyaki glaze. The glaze had garlic, ginger, sesame oil, sushi (sweet) vinegar, brown sugar, orange juice, and red chili pepper paste. Topped with sesame seeds as usual.

I like this griddle as much as my Disco and have used it on many camping trips for all three meals. It also makes awesome breakfast Wink

What is the trick with the rice? When i tried it, it stuck like crazy. My blackstone was still kind of new so maybe it wasn't seasoned enough yet?

It definitely sounds like a seasoning issue. In fact I test my griddle seasoning by cooking rice on it. If the rice doesn’t stick, then the griddle is ready for any thing Smile
I season my griddle after every cooking session as well. It’s constant maintenance process and not a one-time thing. I really abuse my griddle during cooking and do a lot of scraping afterwards, so reseasoning is a must.

Also the temp may be a factor. Rice has to cook over gentle temp for best results.

Try this before cooking rice, either on the area where the rice is cooking or the entire griddle:
Make sure the griddle is totally free of any food residue, apply a generous amount of vegetable oil to the griddle while it’s cold, turn on the burners to high until the oil start to smoke. Let smoke for few min and then shut all the burners off and let cool down.
Once ready to cook, add your favorite shortening to the griddle and turn it on to Med-low and stir-fry the rice. Added additional shortening during cooking as needed.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you need additional info.

Thanks for the tips. I will give it a try again once this snow starts melting down and we get above freezing.
