Need a large cooker and am between the two
Cooking space is identical but I'm reading the meadow creek may have a 50-100º difference on each end
Anyone have either that can lend a opinion. _________________ Proud Member of Team Ranstad

did you have a water pan and insulated box?
this is a first getting into something this large, however with a strong temp difference maybe i should consider two smaller cookers?
i have a offset rf 180 gal tank now and my temps are not that extreme, maybe 10 deg or so. _________________ Proud Member of Team Ranstad

Our Lang 84 never runs that far of a difference end to end. Once its cruising it's more like 0 to 5* variation. I can't speak to temp variationson a bigger pit but if that's the case Lang makes a twin 84 model. That way you're pulling one trailer. _________________ Big Blown Stump Clone

My only issue with Lang is transporting one to NY where Meadow Creek is a couple hours round trip.
I can't imagine Meadow Creek would claim to be so well built and have such large temp drops.
Spoke to a guy with a ts250 and he said maybe 5º difference but then again he didn't sound to confident.
If in gonna spend the coin I wanna spend it once and not have to babysit something that's not getting good temps or sucking wood. _________________ Proud Member of Team Ranstad

when we had our Lang 84 I could get the end to end temps exact by raising or lowering the tongue jack. _________________ Kurt

Seems to be mixed reviews all over the place, I've reached the end of the internet.
Another idea is going with two 84's on a trailer, problem is I have yet to play with them in person and need to get a feel for me I guess.
Anyone on this forum running a larger cooker from lang or meadow creek (108, 250,500?)
Also does anyone run a lang in cold weather and how do they hold up, to me the insulated option in meadow creek sounds beneficial. _________________ Proud Member of Team Ranstad

If Meadow Creek is only a couple of hrs away I think I would be calling them for a demo cook _________________ Lang 60

Actually the lang is more convienient as I have trucks coming to and from FL that can deliver to my door for a couple bucks tip, where as M C os gonna run me a couple hundred round trip in fuel lol.
I think I'm leaning towards lang however unsure of size just yet.
The 108 would be useful for growth but in the meantime it would just be the biggest one in town _________________ Proud Member of Team Ranstad

I have owned a Lang 108 for a short time until my Knights of Columbus chapter needed a cooker. I sold it to my brother Knights and still cook with it on a regular basis.
Once up to temp for cooking we set a temp gauge on each end to verify the outside temp gauges were reading correctly. They were and the difference from end to end was only 5 degrees of difference.
I have both Lang's and Stumps smokers with both being high quality construction.
With the Lang this past Thanksgiving we smoked 135 turkeys with a Lang 108, Lang 88 and Lang 60. The Lang 108 held 28 turkeys per cook.
Hope this helps!

I also agree that a trip to Meadow Creek would be the best idea. I would take a can of biscuits with me and check out the rate of cooking across the entire unit, or an oven thermo.
I have seen the Meadow Creeks and like the quality, I have 42" chicken cooker.
