It's cold and wet. Good time to make carne guisada.


going with the 10" dutch for this one



2# stew meat, 1/2 an onion, and a little jalapeno (kiddo is eating this to so not to much). I normally do bell pepper but forgot to get one.




Got to have lard




Everybody in the pot and put over medium low heat.




Not shown is the hand full of cherry tomatoes I threw in.
In a few hours it will be heaven.


also making broccoli cheddar soup since I picked a couple giant heads of broccoli from my garden.

Celery, carrot and onion sweating out.




The broccoli right after i picked it.

Thanks guys.

It was good. I tend to make it once a week cold out or not.

Funny thing, I made some at work the other day with a bunch of beef tenderloin scraps we had using a commercial aluminum braising pan. It did not have near the flavor of what I make at home in the cast iron.
