Ive made it before but cant remember which ( 10 I think ). Various recipes for pineapple upside down cake, although contain the same ingredients, some call for a 12 inch DO and some a 10. which performs the best ?

IMO it depends on the amount of cake mix you are using 3.5 - 4 cups works in a 10", 5 cups or more is better in a 12"!

What's on the box because there are small standard and larger standard, the smaller ones I'd go 10" the bigger go 12"!

Add up what it says on the box, I think the box's we do are about 2 cups of powder, if it's 1/2 cup oil, 2 eggs and more than 1/2 cup of other ingredients, go with the 12" dutch!

in the 12" dutch oven, your cake will end up as a thinner layer than the same amount of cake would in a 10" dutch oven.

it all depends how thick you want your cake layer to be.

Ive gotten to where I do 95% of my desserts in my 10" DO. Makes for a thicker (taller) cake than my 12 does.

dug up some pics from last trip and yes I used the 10 but decided to try the 12 this time. Bottom line is I liked the results of the 10 better and will stick with it the next time.

I may try one in the 12 but up the mix to 1 1/2 to see how that works
