Ive heard this cake called a few different things but weve always stuck with Baptist Cake. I got the recipe from a 92 year old woman at a luncheon after my nephews funeral almost 20 years ago. I fixed this over the weekend for a dinner at my friend Pete's place. Everyone loves it and then Robin, my wife Very Happy , had a birthday party this afternoon at work for one of her friends and asked if I would make another one. Im down and out with surgery recovery, so what else do I have to do Shocked

The ingredients Very Happy German Chocolate cake mix, tub of cool whip, carmel topping, sweetened milk, sliced almonds, and Heath bar pieces.

Fix the cake to directions on the box.

As soon as cake comes out of the oven, put the can of sweetened milk on the cake and spread it out.

Let the cake cool completely with the sweetened milk.

While waiting on the cake to cool and the oven is still on, I toast the almonds real quick.

Once the almonds come out of the oven, I put them on a cool cookie sheet.

Once cooled, pour entire jar of carmel topping on cake and spread out.

Very Happy

Add the cool whip and spread out evenly.

Very Happy

Spread the toasted almonds over the cake evenly.

Top the cake with the Heath Bar pieces. Its best then if you can refrigerate the cake an hour or so, it sets up nice and serves well.

Dig In Very Happy

I told Robin I wanted a plated pic, but all I got was one out of the dish, oh well, at least I got a pic Wink

If you have any left overs, this goes great in the morning with a hot cup of coffee Very Happy

Baptist Cake
1 German Chocolate Cake Mix
1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 12oz or 14oz Jar Carmel Topping
1 8oz Tub Of Cool Whip
1 Cup Of Sliced Almonds
Heath Bars~~~I either buy a bag of the Minis in the candy isle and break them up or buy a bag of the Heath Bar pieces. Not all the stores have the pieces~~

Make cake according to directions on the box. When done, remove from oven and instantly pour Condensed Milk on cake and spread out over entire cake. ALLOW CAKE TO COOL COMPLETELY I usually let it sit up to 3 hours.

While cake is cooling, toast almonds in a 350* oven for 5 to 10 minutes. As soon as they come out of the oven, place almonds on a cool cookie sheet to keep them from continuing to roast.

Once cake is completely cool, pour entire jar of Carmel Topping over cake and spread evenly. I warm the jar in the microwave for 15 seconds to pour easier.

Scoop entire tub of Cool Whip onto cake and spread out evenly.

Spread out roasted Almonds evenly over the cake.

Spread out Heath Bar pieces out evenly over the cake.

I like to chill the cake for 30 mins to an hour before serving to let everything set up and be firm. It serves easier that way, but is not necessary.

ENJOY

Dang Troy, I leave town and you turn into Betty Crocker, err Duncan Hines. Laughing
That cake looks delicious. Bet it goes good with beer too. Wink
Thanks for sharing. Debbie will see this and I may have to join you over on the BC or DH forum. Laughing

Thumper Thanks for looking Very Happy Give this one a go for sure, you wont be sorry you did.

John, I figured it was better to be called Duncan than Betty Shocked I can say I have had this cake with beer, and yes it goes well with it, not as good as it goes with Morgan and Coke, but still good Wink Let me know what you and Debbie think of the cake, but I figure you will be liking it for sure Very Happy
