Hey guys I'm new to the smoking thing. I've done some ribs and a brisket. The ribs were sauced and the brisket was marinated. Now I'm looking at a big piece of pork (don't know what as the father in law is bringing it) and I want to try a rub. The problem is that most rubs use cayenne, black or some other hot item and my wife can't do spicy. So I'm looking for a rub thats not spicy. Anyone got any idears?

Build a rub with salt, sugar, paprika (for color not for spice), onion and garlic powder, touch of cumin or celery seed, pinch of dried rubbed sage.

3/4 cup Paprika
1/4 cup kosher or sea salt
1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
1 tbs Onion powder
1 tbs Garlic powder
1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
1/2 tsp celery seed (optional)
pinch of dried rubbed sage.

Mix together in a bowl, shake it over the pork, rub it in, shake on some more rest for an hour in the fridge, cook!

Don't use the sage on the beef and substitute some chili powder.
