Cant remember where I came across this one, but have been wanting to try it for quite some time. If you love chocolate and caramel, this one is for you
The ingredients...German Chocolate cake mix, 1 can evaporated milk, chocolate chips, caramel pieces and chopped pecans.
Mix the cake mix according to box directions.
I cut strips of parchment paper and lined my DO to ease in getting the cake out of it later.
Poured about 1/2 the cake mix into the DO.
Coals on top and bottom.
While the cake was cooking, I mixed the 2 bags of caramel bits with 1 1/4 cup of the evorated milk and melted the caramels.
About 15 mins or so into the cook, I checked the top side of the cake to see if it was firm. It was, so I added a bag of chocolate chips.
Then added a little over 1/2 of the melted caramel.
Then topped it all off with the remaining cake batter.
Couldnt take it, about 20 mins later, had to lift the lid and take a peek.
About 10 mins later it was done and in my kitchen.
My wife helped me and we lifted the cake out of the DO with the parchment paper. It worked pretty good
Poured the remaining caramel on top of the cake and let it sit for a bit.
After it had sit almost 30 minutes, I added the chopped pecans.
The moment my boys, wife and me had been waiting for.
This thing is amazing good. I think you can literally gain a few extra pounds just looking at it let alone eating it
I will be making this one again...soon, probably this coming weekend at a cookout we've been invited too. Only thing different I would do is use a smaller DO to make the cake a little taller. I think that would make it easier to remove with the parchment paper too. Either way, this thing is bad a$$ good, a definate keeper.
Thanks for looking _________________ X2 Finished Build

Dang Troy, that looks delicious. I could put a serious hurtin' on that cake.
As you mentioned last night, too bad you didn't enter it in the TD, it would have been a close 2nd to mine. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

I wish you could have been here when you made it.

Darwin, thank you I'm not a huge milk drinker, but I think I had 3 glasses with this dessert
