That's what I'm doing, too. Confused
I use the Jiffy pellets ... I know, I'm a relative newbie when it comes to this.
But, I have had success with them the last 2 growing seasons with the SBs.
I just saw a chocolate hab poking thru!
Thanks again for the seeds you sent me last fall. Very Happy

Here is my fancy, super sophisticated set-up ... I like it. Very Happy

A window sill starter. 2 X 12 using pellets.
A heat mat measuring 4" X 24". Got it last year.

It's on the west side of the house, so, getting sunshine now. Cool

Been about 8 days now. From left to right:

1 chocolate hab coming thru Very Happy Very Happy
3 orange habs
2 Trinidad scorpions
4 Scotch Bonnets
0 Banana peppers

See Mac you have lots of green.......you should think about running a fan on them at low speed...it will give your plants some strength and prevent any mold on the soil. Just use any kind of cheap fan....few hours a day will strengthen your plants and keep your soil dry....prevents mold.....I cannot stress ....It prevents mold.

Thanks for the advice, Rick! I will definitely consider that.

I just saw another chocolate hap wanting to poke thru ....
but, it's in the same pod that the first one is in. Mad
Gotta separate them somehow ... soon. Confused

Hey Mark, if the seeds are just coming up "don't try and separate".

Wait till they look like a couple of inch plants or more, like they are equally strong!
Then gently seperate them and imediately plant one of them in another small container and press in gently. Firm the soil around the other.
Should be no problem getting them both to live, trust me.

Use water sparingly.

Too late .... already done. Worked out okay.

And, yeah .... I am trying to use water sparingly. Thanks for the tips. Very Happy

Nice of you to fix Mac up with some pails Roxy....I picked up a bunch of fancy orange ones from work last season,
they should look real purdy with big green pepper plants growing out the top. Very Happy

I have about 60% germination right now after about 9 days with a couple popping each day,I need a few more of the real exotic hots to pop and I will have a great selection of exotic super hots this year....the only ones giving me a real problem are the Yellow Bhut Jolokias(ghost pepper)...first time trying to grow these...the yellow ones that is. Very Happy

I sure hope so! The buckets are fine. Thank you, my friend. Smile
Will drill a couple three holes in each, then paint them black.

I have 14 plants sprouted ... but, only 12 pails.
D'you need some more fryer oil emptied out? Laughing Wink
J/K, 12 is plenty for me. I might give away some of the starters.
I'll wait and see. Keep the strongest ones. Very Happy

Mac ..keep a few extra plants around because some times when you bring them in and out of the elements
to harden your plants off,you sometimes lose one or two to sunburn....it only take a minute to fry a young plant that has not been outside.

I'm starting a little later this year. Just ordered my seeds over the weekend. I think I started too early last year. Rolling Eyes

One month since last photo.
Once in a while, I will put them near a register (never did buy a cheap fan). Confused

I got a dozen pails from Roxy ... required some elbow grease to clean them up ... literally. Laughing Laughing
Should I give the pails a sanding before I paint them black?
I am figuring the paint will adhere to the pail better. Don't want to do it every year. Idea
I want to paint them so they will absorb more heat. Thanks. Very Happy

Left to right:
4 chocolate habs
2 Trinidad scorpions
3 orange habs
5 Scotch bonnet

Mark I hope your plants do okay...they have gotten a little leggy and with no fan on them they will be so fragile
when you start bringing them in and out to harden them off.
You might even have to stake them until they can hold themselves up.As for the pails.....I just spray them flat black
they hold up pretty good when they are stacked for the winter.

Here is a pic of my plants ...April 9th was a month, you can see a huge difference when using 14 hours of light 3 -4 hours with the fan and a heat mat.
I actually removed the heat mat to slow them down, the tomatoes were planted a week later. Very Happy

Wow, dude!! That looks fantastic!

Yours look like they are on HGH compared to mine.

I don't have a set-up like yours ... just natural light.

I won't be hardening them off anytime soon.
More time near the register is what they need. Very Happy Thanks.
