I was cooking a couple stuffed pork chops on a 1/2 sheet pan lined with AF. I heard a BIG bang and when I looked the pan had buckled/twisted and threw the 2 chops almost out of the pan and hot grease was smoking up the oven/kitchen! Pan was from Wall Mart.

Can someone tell me what is a really good 1/2 sheet pan and where to get it (Reasonably) that won't ever do this again?
I just don't know much about these type of things, having a bad week!!

I got mine from walmart and they don't do that. They are Wilton brand though....or whatever the cake decorating brand are.

Changeling...when I cook with my Camp Dutch Oven I use my gasser as a table....I put two cheap sheet pans down flat and put the DO on top off them....and my coals sit on the pans...I had one flex hard and fast....I was doing the two step dancing around all the coals it threw at me. Very Happy

Sounds like you need a heavier one. These have wire rolled into the bead around the pan.

I use the Chicago Metallic pans I got on Amazon. IIRC, they're about $20 and they've never buckled on me.

Heavy aluminum with heavy rolled edges. Mine never buckle. They are not the cheapest ones though.

Cheap pans will buckle, flex, rust and pretty much cause nothing but aggravation, thats the only reason I would use them for coals under my DO.
I have some pans that cost a lot of $$$$...you could run a dozer over them and not even scratch them.... Wink Laughing Laughing

Okay I'm exaggerating a bit...heavy duty is the way to go. Very Happy

Thanks Jarhead, I will check them out the next time I go to Sam's, witch will be very soon.
I looked the price up through the "Link" and it said $10.**, I find that hard to believe, especially these days, but we'll see.
If so I will give them a go.

Thanks to all who have answered my plea.

Remember: Be carefull with cheap sheet pans under a broiler or however. I hate/shudder to think what might have happened if I opened the oven door at that instance to check on progress!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some things you simply get what you pay for. Shocked

I have never bought the "cheapest" thing on the shelf nor the most expensive...but usually lean toward the higher end priced items and rarely have a problem using it as it was designed to be used.

I have both half and full sheet pans that are over 20 years old and still usable and I have used them for everything but sleds. Laughing Laughing

BTW, I still use the old car hood for sled Wink
