Hi everyone! I purchased a Char-Broil Oklahoma Joe 20 in. Offset Smoker from Home Depot about a year or so ago. Did the mods, gasket seal and diffuser. Probably will add fire brick to help distribute the heat. I haven't done any long smoking yet. Mostly chicken and vegetables so far. Purchased two maverick wireless temp. Both old and new, and they both failed. Anyone who can recommend a good temp probe (other than maverick) please let me know.

Anyways, hi from the beautiful mountains!

Welcome to the ring PorkChop1, looking forward to seeing some pics of your cooks. Smile
What went wrong with your Mavericks I have had mine for four or five years with only one probe failure.

I recently bought the Maverick ET 732. The food probe when inserted into the transmitter immediately reads HHH. The manual states failure with the HHH read. However since my initial post, I have found a review that stated that when the probe is snapped into place - extra pressure is needed to make the connection. So I applied an extra 5 lbs of pressure, and the darn thing started working. How about that!

Anyways I'm happy and all is well with world. Thanks for the welcome. I will have pics up soon!

Oh yeah, anyone catch the Hatfield & McCoys on the History Channel? My back yard. The story is fairly accurate....but the series was filmed in Romania! I know the area well. When I saw the series I kept wondering where the heck is this? Really weird.

Welcome... I watched American Pickers when they were down thata way. Bought a grocery ledger from a period merchantile store. Had Anse's name and signature in it. It was authenticated to be Devil Anse's. Also had a sleeping area upstairs and the bed that Anse slept in when he was in town.

I always thought it would be neat to spend time in the hills with some of the locals. Eating and learning their ways...

I've always had a wander lust in me. Atleast when I was younger...

Where are you in relation to Helen, GA. I lived in Norcross, GA for a while and couldn't get enough of the Appalachain Mountains. Some of my fondest motorcycle memories took place in those hills! Welcome PorkChop Very Happy
