Another skill that I'm not sure will ever come in handy.

I do have pics though.

JAllen, get them pics up, you never know when that could come in handy. Wink

As for Vern, He should be happy Lola didn't move in with him.
As for "Vernism", you better cut that boy off or, give him more to drink, I think he's lost his mind. Shocked
Good luck, it is always a interesting read. Very Happy

pics or it didn't happen

It came out really good. We smoked a raspberry tobacco and there was a taste of lemon.

In other news, we just took out an awesome prime rib roast and some dino bones, but I didn't get pics of those.

Are you sure it is the bar doing the "hold" or your bank??

At several fuel stations when you use your card as a debit the BANK will put the "hold" on funds NOT the station.

Actually national news just did a spot where the gas station holds the funds for 24 to 72 hour until it clears and they set the amount. Some cases hold up to $200 and then make interest on the hold. Not much you say but x millions of customers per year adds up. Use as credit to avoid fees and holds.

Dasha, the new cook proving that just about anyone who wants to can learn to bbq.

She's doing a good job so far. Even making a boatload of tips serving tables when she can. So far this week she's made more than her cooking salary in tips.

We came in late this morning, but before we left we called Dasha to check if there was anyone in. We know we don't have big lunch crowds, but if we'd had some people, we would have hurried in.

"There is nobody here. Not a single customer. Nobody."

Wanna know how to make an owner feel bad? Say that and really drive the point home.

Yesterday was pretty slow; didn't break even.

The only good thing about it is lately these kinds of days have been very rare. I still remember putting up and posting about goose eggs, and thank goodness that hasn't happened for awhile.

Today we've gotta pay rent and the owner is coming in. While we were out earlier in the month he stopped by and told our staff to tell us to put all the couches back inside, so I think we're in for a bit of a conversation as most of the seating outside is couches.

Mrs. JAllen sewed covers, and we keep them out of the sun and we shampooed them. After three years in the J-Lo room, they sure needed it.

So, we'll see what gets thrown at us today.

Being a family show/thread/forum, we won't ask what was on them from being in the J-Lo room for 3 years. Shocked Shocked Shocked

But from reading this thread from the beginning, I believe no explanation is necessary either Embarassed Embarassed

Geronimo, thanks for the comment.

What is most unfortunate is that business has slowed considerably and there is nobody to sit on them.

At least we had a nice conversation with the owner, and he's no longer asking us to move them back inside.

All the engineering and time and mess to smoke tobacco? Why not just roll one up and be done with it?

Harry, thanks for the comment. I have to admit I don't fully understand the difference between an okay hooka and a great hooka, but some people really take a lot of time to learn to properly prepare them.

I also don't understand the 20-minute tea ceremony, but some people do.

But I do understand spending a lot of extra time to cook meat in a bbq.

daddywoofdawg, bring her in and let her do some scratchin'.

In other news, Jared, a great guy from the embassy who comes in a lot, brought in his own bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's.

While he was polite about the whole thing, it was still motivational. Enough to get Mrs. JAllen whipping up a new sauce. Actually, two new sauces, one approaching the SBR profile and one XXX hot.

We've been putting SBR up against our new sauce and ours is winning almost unanimously.

For the XXX sauce, we need some thicker gloves to carry it around with.

Want to make one of those super thick, sweet and gloppy sauces pretty good? Cut them almost 50/50 with plain white vinegar.
