|
Okay, I opened my big mouth about a Mac N Cheese Throwdown on Remmy's cheese post. Looks like there's plenty of interest so I've posted the details below:
EDIT: Adding details
General Throwdown rules are located here >> General TD Rooolz (if you're not familiar w/ these, please read 'em)
Details specific to this throwdown are as follows:
- One entry per person
- Entries must have at least 1 component to the Mac N Cheese that was prepared on the smoker. Overall cooking method is up to you (bake, broil, nuker, smoker, etc)
- When posting your entries, please include: Full list of ingredients and a picture, process pictures for each key step, and pics of your finished product (Since this is all about the M&C, include ONLY your mac and cheese dish in your pictures)
- Game face is beneficial so get creative!!
- Good-natured, lively smack talk is encouraged! (no mean or inappropriate smack talk please)
- The timing is as follows:
* Sign ups: Now - November 30 (no new joiners after that!)
* Post entries (including ingredients, process steps and pics): December 1-4 (deadline for posting your entry is Dec 04, 2011 Midnight) (there will be a separate thread for this)
* Voting (done by poll): December 5-6 (Monday and Tuesday) (there will be a separate thread for this)
I think I captured the important stuff but if I missed something, lemme know. . . .
This is gonna be FUN!!! _________________

If you have a turn-in time that encompasses Thanksgiving, you may get more people doing it since so many people have company over for Thanksgiving....
I would like to do it this weekend when family comes out, but I have already done it with them and none of the kids ate it. I will have to do it for a different group of people, like my co-workers! _________________ Scott V.

Depending on the timing-I'm in. Now I just have to figure out how to keep the noodles from falling through the grates _________________ ~Joe

Here is a remedy trhat I use for that problem. I take some real fine fishing line and just string it through all the noodles. A little time consuming, but I ain't lost a noodle yet. _________________ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

What do y'all think about doing this the weekend after Thanksgiving?? (I have the time to do this now but many folks may not).
So the final picture/post "dead line" would be Sunday, December 4th. . . .

Sounds good to me, SmokeHound! I'm in! I was planning on doing Mac n Cheese for T-day anyway. I can't wait to try out my first smoked cheese (it's in the fridge, aging/mellowing)

Wow, you learn something new every day on the Ring . Two questions for ya, zski - What's the best brand of line and will that work for my beans, too? I have a hard time keeping them from falling through the grates when I do BBQ beans _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Beans are much simpler Bugs....make yourself one of these with much smaller holes, say maybe 3/16"...it will allow the maximum smoke to each legume!
I do believe ya'll can count me in, probably _________________ Money Maker

SmokeHound-just one quick question. After the U.S. bans all incandescent light bulbs, how are you going to cook.
Now for a serious question-are we cooking standard macaroni and cheese recipe(s), or does mac-n-cheese just have to be a feature of the dish?
And either way...Y'all better grab some butter...cuz Y'alls are toast _________________ ~Joe
