Nightstand gun and target. I also love my Glock! The Kimbers just seem so sweet! Quite frankly if I was only concerned about trigger pull you can't beat a revolver! But I love the 230 grain hollow points!

If you really do love your Glock, I doubt you'll like the 1911. Other than they can both make a loud noise, they have very little in common.

Probably out of my budget! I am waiting for my taxes to get done and then I think I will buy the Kimber LA Swat version with night sights! Within the next 2 weeks. I may buy online considering no one at Gander Mountain would wait on me!

LA Swat is using a black oxide Stainless Custom II with night sights and 30 LPI front strap checkering.
Very nice.

It looks like you have several shopping options:
Kimber Dealers w/i 25 miles of Wixom, Michigan

p.s.
Wait time on mine is 8 to 12 weeks. Sad

edit: removed dealer list, left the link

Good luck.
If you like it, you should put the Glock away. There is so much difference in the two that it would take an enormous investment at a range to get good with both. For tactical use, I don't believe you ever could.
Hand fit, carry method, safety, ....

i love my kimber but if i knew how much of a pain it was to break down i would have opted for something else

my next gun though is leaning towards a kimber ultra carry or another 3" 1911 style for concealed carry

for now though i do have a nice selection to choose from haha

Springfield makes a good basic 1911. It works well and, if you get into shooting it and want to upgrade, is a solid foundation to build on. Take it to a smith, tell him what you want it to do, and he should be able to get it there.
I haven't seen a Rock Island, but from what I've read they are made in the Philippines, and customer support isn't too good.

I did buy it at Target Sports in Keego Harbor! The people there are very nice and helpful! There is a guy named Ken there that is great!

I recently purchased a Taurus PT1911. It is a heavy gun and very tight. For $500 NIB couldn't beat the price.

The Heine sights, beaver tail and ambidextrous safety all standard. I need to get it out to the range this week. I will let you know the moa.

IMNSHO, Kimber is the most overpriced, overrated handgun ever.

In the interest of full disclosure, I sell guns for a living.

This is my RIA that the head gunsmith at Armscor "sweetened up" for me, including the trigger.
For reliability, combat accuracy, and sheer value, I'd put it up against any 1911 out there.
