I fired up my burner and boiled some water in my 20" today just to see if the burner height would be okay....I got 5 inches from the burner and it works fine, once its warmed up you can crank it right down.

Strange. I could have sworn I replied to this thread last night. Confused

My burner that I fabricated a bracket for makes mine about 2.5 inches from the bottom of the disc. It seems to run pretty hot & concentrated in the center.

I am going to try making another one making the burner sit more like 5 or so inches from the bottom. We'll see what happens.

I think k.a.m. has the perfect stand and fire containment ring on his burner stand. If you build a ring to set the disc on about half the diameter of the disc and it contains the flames from reaching the outter edge you have the best heat control. Whitey's does the same thing and I'll be building me something new soon.
