We started building equipment in the fall of 2000.

And had a "soft opening" Super Bowl party at my place for the 2001 Super Bowl:

A week later we did our first festival at our Pioneer settlement:

And the rest is history!

I will say this- my learning curve would have been a LOT less steep if I'd had the Smoke Ring when I got my start.

I'll have to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday with a catered pig roast at a clients complete with live band, open bar, and horse back riding for the kids (and big kids).

I'll be taking my key crew out to dinner later this month as a thank-you.

Ain't that the truth.. Laughing I remember my wife towing my first smoker with her '91 Merc Cougar and I followed in my '90 VW Cabriolet towing a small utility trailer with a couple of ice chests, small pop up tent/awning and a couple of the OLD style (wood) fold up tables. Laughing Laughing

I should not laugh, I am sure some are doing things this way as we speak Embarassed Embarassed but for me...it's funny. Laughing

I've enjoyed and learned a lot from your posts. Thanks.

I raise my glass to you being able to do it as long as you want.

Congratulations B-man!

Is it still fun?
Or has it turned into work?

Most likely the reply will be "fun work that pays".
Very Happy

Did you throw a grand opening party when you were a cater?or was that your first catering? If you throw it as a grand opening can you give somemore details about that event.I have never thought about doing that as a cater but sounds like a great idea!
Oh yes congrads.

Yea, one could do a "spring BBQ kick off" every year to spark interest and attention for that year.

BBQMAN, do you have more photos of the early days of business?
I'd like to see them if you are willing to share.
