Real nice job you and SoEzzy did on the new forum.

experienced welders.
Again great job

Thank You hvac81, If you or someone that has the needed info for such a chart and would like to put it together I will surely add it to the top. You can P.M. me the info and I will post it to the top.
I do not Mig weld enough to keep up with the needed info for a good chart, but I feel it would be a very good addition to the list. Thank You for the idea. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Well much can be discussed (and argued) about the correct settings. Whenever I need to look something up, I simply point my browser to:
http://www.hobartwelders.com/elearning
At this link you can select the welding process you are interested in.
I describes in detail what you would be looking for as far as correct set up.
It helps if you understand the basics of the process you are attempting.
Hope this helps |

A couple things on MIG settings and gases. All newer machine's and most older ones have a chart on the machine somewhere that gives voltage and wire speed settings based on material thickness. In my experience these are a good place to start and then adjust to your personal taste/ skill level from there. As far as shielding gas goes, an Argon/CO2 mix provides the best overall performance but is more expensive. Straight CO2 also works fine, but does leave more spatter to clean up. Flow for either gas will vary with the conditions, but generally 20 to 25 pounds on the flow meter will be enough for normal indoor conditions. The above would be for solid wire and gas shielded flux core. Self sheilded flux core should function in any environment,
Hope this helps some of you that are less experienced with MIG _________________ Will weld for GOOD barbecue

No Joke! This happened to my buddy while building my last pit. Thank goodness he was wearing a long sleeved shirt under his tshirt. Still ended up with a 8" laceration to the chest, nothing terribly deep but terrifying indeed. _________________ The Lil' Chub - Custom

Kevin, Here is another link to welding videos. This is the same guy who does "WeldingTipsandTricks.com" Except these videos are on his video host instead of going through YouTube.
