what I dont get is why they dont do a top chef style format. At least to get to know the people. They have the same prize money as top chef, but the format kills any building interest. Would love to see more of a format change to the top chef style and let people get to know the personalities...more of a blend of the 2 versions.

I could go for that!

Don't know how many people who do comp cooking would be able to do a top chef style of show.

Top Chef films for about 2 months, and most of the people on this show have businesses to tend.

And did they not skip the sending home part one week, the rib week I think???

They seemed to change the rules as the show went on. No firm set to start with. Rule by ratings??

Blind judging would be the only real way to give everyone a fair shake.

Blind Judging would have been helpful
But the judges watched the entries being prepared
as a part of the show (example Myron and the Rib trim in whole hog)

The process of the show needs to be worked on yes

I agree. First thing I'd do is get rid of the possum lookin emcee/host.

I would love it if they went more "Top Chef" style as that is a great format in my book.

I also agree that blind tasting would be way better and the things Myron caught (the trimming of the ribs as well as the use of propane) could be caught by an oversight (rules) judge who then was not in on the tasting portion. Nothing wrong with that.

A set format with rules that don't change part-way through would be a great thing and eliminating somebody for f-ing up crockodile or squirrels or possum is a horrible idea.

Blind judging doesn't make for good TV! Wink

On-site judging (along with blind, of course) also works for MBN style events..................

Blind could make for good TV if done like the
season one Trigg Rib Challenge
That was very entertaining

The rib week was the first show that was recorded, according to one of the participating teams. But that still doesn't explain why they didn't send anyone home. My guess is that the team that "should" have been sent home was one of the more captivating personalities and the producers decided to keep that personality around for rating sake. The rib episode was definitely the most entertaining episode IMO.

The concept of sending home a team was added after the first show was taped
