Posted: Fri Jan 23 09 2:04 am Post subject: Some interesting Smoke Ring statistics |
|
|
There are several sites that rank websites based on several criteria including number of visits, number of unique visitors, etc. One of the top ones is Compete.com. I was just looking at how The Smoke Ring is doing and thought you might find it interesting.
This is a graph of number of unique visitors monthly for the past year. As would be expected, it peaks during the summer and then tapers off, but is up 48% over a year ago.
Compete.com ranks the top 1 million websites. This graph shows the rank against all other websites based on the number of people it attracts. Out of the millions of websites on the Internet, The Smoke Ring ranks at number 71,800. It moved up almost 18,000 positions over the past year.
This graph shows the number of site visits per month. It peaks at a little over 60,000 and is up 17% for the year.
You can also do comparisons to other websites. This is a comparison with KCBS.us based on number of unique visitors per month. We average around 3 times the number of unique visitors per month as KCBS.
This graph compares The Smoke Ring rank with KCBS rank. They have come up a lot during the past year but we are still 135,000 positions ahead of them.
This graph compares the Smoke Ring with the BBQ Forum based on number of unique visitors. The Smoke Ring attracts 3 to 5 times the number of unique visitors each month.
Finally, this graph compares The Smoke Ring rank to the BBQ Forum. We beat them by 110,000 positions.
I'd like to thank all the ring member sites and all the forum members for your support to The Smoke Ring over the years. This is our 12th year and we have a lot of new things planned for the site this year starting with a complete redesign so stay tuned!

There is no better site in my opinion. Even without the stats, still the best.

Great info Garry, thanks for sharing!
kudos on the new re-design as well.
I really like the format here, and have only two suggestions:
Can you please incorporate something to "standardize" picture size to work at anyone's browser setting, and prevent the "scrolling affect" that I crab about once in a while?
I (obviously) know that I could re-set my own settings, but I like where they are do to the print size (and no guys, I'M not working on an ancient 17" monitor).
I have also found that the scroll feature on the side isn't working on all threads for fast foward- you need to go through the entire post to get to the botton of the thread.
Thanks for keeping this the best place on earth for BBQ info! _________________ BBQMAN

I like the comparison to the "other site"
The reason i continue to visit this forum is because of the members. Here they are more helpful, friendly & always willing answer an honest question.
I have learned so much about BBQ here.
Not sure exactly why you started this site Gary but i`m sure its a joy to watch it grow. |

Everyone agrees I'm a really unique individual, so I'm happy to contribute to the unique visitor stats as often as possible!
This is a great site with great members and fellowship, which is why I'm always interested in what's up here. _________________ Let's hope SoEzzy can ditch his heavy hand on photos in 2016!

We are going to upgrade to phpBB3 soon. It has the ability to upload pictures for posts and automatically resizes them. Unfortunately that won't fix all the oversize pictures that have already been uploaded.
I'm not sure about the second item. I haven't seen that. Hopefully it's fixed in phpBB3.

Haven't been online for several weeks until today, just noticed this thread. The comparison to KCBS is interesting - note how the 'Ring tapers to a low in October of '08 while KCBS peaked high at the same time. Interesting juxtaposition.
Wonder if some folks "defected"...? (I know..that's silly, can't really compare the 2 sites, KCBS isn't a forum). _________________ ============================
