Hey all, I've been thinking about selling my sausage (raw) at a local farmers market. Was wondering what to expect for insurance and licensing costs. I'm sure this is widely variable, just looking for a ballark. Thanks!

Just guessing here but assuming you don't own a restaurant or a commercial kitchen you probably have to cut the whole pieces up and grind and mix in the spices all at the farmers market.

I think the wife said we pay about 400 a year for insurance

I don't no what you mean about licensing costs

Good point. This could be more trouble than it's worth.

And there I was , hanging dry, awaiting testament,
thinking people no longer cared enough to bother
for Mr. Dean... Thank you, Kyle1595.

So what's up? Any development, since?

That, I believe, is what they call the good stuff!
Just in case... I meant with King Coal. I was going to
refer him to Bronco Smoker's sausage TD
- more good stuff.

Step 1: Call your local health department. They will stear you down the proper path on production of processed meats. Best of luck with all that.

If all goes well, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Call your local insurance agent and inquire about a policy.

Step 3: Contact your local city/county town hall and ask about licenses.

TaaDaa...all done.
