ok OK OK ...
I hear ya's!! LOL
So this is how I fixed the Pig-Tail feed to the trailer. Much safer!!
Now any extension cord will just plug into the trailer and all sockets and the lights are ready to go.
I got to thinking ... I'm not going to be the only one using this pit, my sons are as well, so let's make it safe. Let me know what you think.
The Wife appreciates ya'll lookin out for me!!!
Also thought this old man might lose the pig-tail LOL

Looks good to me. Do you have a cover to set on it to keep it from filling with dirt? _________________ Tim |

It is a sexy cooker setup for sure.
I didn't want to be spoiler... But when I saw the jbox setup and even the new one I can't help but think that code for outdoor electrical outlets for houses call for GFI type outlets. For a reason. To be on the safe side or the side your wife preffers maybe a outoor sealed typoe box fitted with a GFI curciuit. Even if you sealed off the GFI but ran the one you show in series you would have the GFI protection. I'm thinking rain here. I live in Washington so I think rain allot. Maybe I'm all wet... _________________ Rob

Stel, Looking great. you are definitely a better electrician than me.
chi-town smoker 2, Thanks for the electrical help and compliments.
pyronoel, Thanks,
Wingman, Thank you. for the safety and electrical expertise.
TUeltzen, Thanks. Stel keeps the cleanest rig of anyone I know so I bet he'll find a way to keep the dirt out.
joshsheff1 Thanks, I hope to see you and your new rig soon. _________________ D. Tillery

Thanks Big Ron.
I'm kinda' missing Stel. He used to stop by a couple of times a week. I guess he's too busy cooking so I can't hold it against him. _________________ D. Tillery

Big Ron Thanks. I'm really enjoying this cooker. In the first 6 weeks that I had it I smoked 141 slabs. This weekend I'm doing 8 Butts, just to see how it does those.
mrcustomsteel LOL I here ya man! I'll call and we should do lunch. It'd be nice to see what you have in the shop!

You can't go wrong with MrCustomSteel - he's built several award winning pits for me here in STL and always does a top notch job. He's easy to work with and builds em to last for sure. Give him a shot - you won't be dissapointed! |
