hey
went to the urbana, Ill location
i got the 2 meat combo (pulled pork, sliced brisket)
my wife got 1/2 slab of ribs.
sides were cornbread, beans, and mac and cheese
we both got root beer (on tap) for drinks

on a 1-10 scale:

ribs -6 (fall apart texture and tasted oven-y)
pulled pork-8 (liked the pull, decent flavor, my favorite of the 3)
brisket-7 (very moist and tender, smoke ring lacking, oven?)
cornbread-8 (wife liked it, fell apart too easily for me, kinda bland)
root beer-7 (tasted like barqs)
mac and cheese-7 (it was good, hard to mess up m&c, nothing special)
beans-6 (too much juice and chili powder, tasted like soupy chili)
value-7 ( i thought it was a little expensive, but not terrible)

here's the website
http://www.hickoryriver.com/

it was packed on a friday evening in a small town. i like the drive up window, since i was traveling thru and just wanted some road food.
i'll give the overall restaurant a solid 7.
i wouldnt go there again, but i wasnt overly disappointed. good roadside stop.

greg

Was the cornbread in the Yankee or southern tradition? Sounds like a halfway decent place.

Thanks for the review! There is one opening in my town soon. Will have to try it out. Did the meat have a nice smokey flavor to it?
