Where can you buy the rubber, insulated gloves I see pit masters pulling their Q with?
They seem to work great for picking up a full brisket, pork butt, or ribs, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere. _________________ Hasty-Bake Legacy

I know this doesn't answer your question, but we have gone to brown jersey gloves with a latex glove over it. Better dexterity and clean up is as easy as throwing away the latex glove. They don't provide as much insulation as the gloves you are talking about but will handle most of the meat handling chores just fine. _________________ Naughty Nurses BBQ

Just hit the hardware store and find something you like. Pick up some cheap leather gloves there for dealing with hot stuff too if you don't have any. |

I use black latex gloves and Bear Claws for pulling, those big rubber insulated gloves are very clumsy.JM2C _________________ Horizon Offset (Marshall RD Special)

Don't be a sissy!! You don't need no stinking heat proof gloves!!! Strap on a pair of food serving type gloves, grab a pair of big forks, and go to town. Once shredded it will be cool enough to feel through it for fat chunks and what not with just the plastic or latex gloves on..................if for my immediate family I just was my hands first and skip the gloves. _________________ "if you cant cook it in bacon grease it ain't worth eating"

I'm not looking at the gloves for the pulling part, but to actually pick the meat up off the smoker.
Thanks for all the tips. I've used the latex over brown work gloves previously, but always see those big black rubber gloves at competitions and thought I'd like to have a pair. _________________ Hasty-Bake Legacy

Look to your local janitorial supply store in the Yellow book or on line from janitorial supply.

I 2nd the brown jersey gloves with latex on top. We don't even take spatulas or tongs to comps anymore. Although I did melt one latex last month finishing chicken on the grill. ..stinks. Works great . _________________ I'm simple & I can prove it. |

I asked Kelly (4legsup) where he got his. He said that they were chemical gloves from a feed store type place. I'd never heard of the place, I guess it was local to him, but I'm guessing that it's like a Tractor Supply. |

I haven't tried these yet, but I did get them in the mail yesterday and put them on. They will definately protect against heat, but unless they loosen up they won't be good for picking up small foods. If you have unusually large hands they may be too small. I got the 18" and they come up almost to my elbow.
