Thanks Kevin. You set the bar pretty high around here.
I got the firebox welded
I got to see Stel at Vexter1's yesterday while we all tested some HQue comp recepies. We are good to go on the left handed smoker. _________________ D. Tillery

I got the steamer tank welded on, the doors cut and one intake.
I need to weld a ring on it so I can hoist it off the table. This thing is already a b@!!buster. _________________ D. Tillery

D, the fire box and water tank look fantastic. I like seeing the corners butted up and the welded. Very nice work indeed. I look forward to seeing some more updates. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

I want to cook on it a few times for the family before I step out with new puppy. Don't know that those dates will fit the timeline.

Rock'n ribs is on April 17, and 18th. Its lots of fun, I've cooked at it for four or five years now. Friday they give you 5 or 6 butts and a couple of briskets to cook for the party Friday night. Saturday they've given me up to 15 butts to cook for the public sampling. The cost to enter killed my competeing there this year after I took a 15K pay cut due to the housing market crashing. Its about $350 to enter but all the spaces fill up the week after its held. I've got contact information for anyone that wants to try to get in next year. _________________ On the seventh day GOD didn't rest, he had a BBQ! |

Went down to the shop today and things are coming along nicely. Here is the smoke Chamber.
-
On this one it is the back of the cooking chamber. On the lower right side the bottom 2 ft is where the warmer will be. To the left there will be a prep-table
Here is the fire box

Hey SGT, looking at your build I can see a few flaws in this smoker. The biggest one is ITS NOT IN MY YARD!!!!! When you finish it up, I'd hate for you to waste a single stick of wood only to decide that it's not big enough or whatever, why not bring it down here and let me make sure all the kinks are worked out of her for you. I wouldn't even charge you for the wood or meat. Just leave her here for the summer and I'll get her back to you already seasoned and ready for you! She looks great!! Wish I had that kind of talent. _________________ On the seventh day GOD didn't rest, he had a BBQ! |

He's got the talent alright, but you've got the talent to see it in your mind's eye before it is built. Sounds like a match made in ..... somewhere. _________________ On the seventh day GOD didn't rest, he had a BBQ! |

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Any of you MO guys ever in the hood, stop on by.
Yeah Kevin, I'm trying to knock this one out pretty fast (for me at least) so Stel can cook on it by summer.
I got the other end on and seams welded
I got the diffuser pipe roughed out

Thanks ckone. Is that rig in your avatar a similar shape to this one?
I got the drip guards and end damper on the diffuser tube.
Got the damper for the warmer done and the hole for the diffuser pipe junction. I need to weld on the cook chamber before adding the damper. Actually, you could controll the temps in this setup with intake adjustments and the end damper but that would be one less thing to play with!
Time to get her on the trailer frame so I can see what moves when I move it and weld it on. _________________ D. Tillery
