overall I really enjoyed the show.

I about fell out of the chair when I saw all that lighter fluid on Myron's charcoal, then again he took 1st so I should shut my trap! haha

I'm really looking forward to rest of the series.

I am a beginner in smoking and am looking forward to these shows. My hopes are to cook a brisket as good as a good friend of mine did before he died. I have tried ribs and they was just OK, but I need to learn more before I ruin the brisket.

Hopefully this show will help some besides making me want to get up in the middle of the night and fire up the smoker.

I hope you get to making awesome briskets/ribs/everything. This show will NOT show you all the ins and outs. Kinda like the golf channel. Laughing You take a little bit from here and there and incorporate into your own style. It's fun to watch but at the end you have to know what will produce the best results with you have to work with. JMO.

After showing Myron squirting half a bottle of lighter fluid on his coals they didn't show him actually lighting it. I was waiting for the huge Whoosh. Very disappointed.

I hope the show does well. Anyone know how many episodes TLC plans to air?

Yeah, I was kind of wanting to see that. Drama at its best. How does one light that fire??

Wink Leave it to the Asian guys to have the Stoker Computer Gizmo, and a backup.

And the Young Dude... Falling asleep, and his fire too. I would'a threw some chunks soaked in olive oil in there, and some bacon on top and yelled "I gots me some oil too Myron! ... Watch this!!"

I guess when I first heard about the show, I was expecting a cooking show with more instructional nature to it. Not so much secret recipes, but maybe some basic recipes, tips, pointers how to's and why for's. Its all good and well as it is, I will probably watch and all. If I enter comps, I wont be as confused about what goes on and whatnot.

I wish they did more tips and tricks then just show the dynamics of the competion. It was O.K. but won't make it a must see every week for me

http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/bbq-pitmasters/bbq-pitmasters.html is the home site for the show. Right now it looks as though they have clips but not the full episodes.

I'm surprised, no one talked about the BGE breaking. Not a stellar day for the BGE types. Oh, and the "guy" with spare parts is a BGE dealer.

It was a sad sight to see, but that was bad weather too.

I was REALLY looking forward to watching as most everyone else here. I know its "show biz" but it was all personality driven tv and nothing really for the backyard barbecue guy like me wanting to learn tips and techniques. I know its a comp and secrets will not be shared but c'mon a little instructional content would be nice. Something...anything. I thought MM came off as a self absorbed ass. And the lighter fluid! I think most Ringers would wake a guy and help him get the pit restarted to get back in the game. I will record the next few shows but if it continues like the first I will wave off.

terrible weather...as an EZ-up and WSM cook, we have been lucky to avoid any very bad weather. I really felt bad for Slap yo Daddy. Though we are competing this weekend and the forecast is cold and wet....fingers crossed we make it through anyone weekend..

Weather happens to everyone. How you are set-up with cookers, tents, trailers, etc. can contribute to your outcome.

We started with tents, uninsulated cookers, and everything in tote boxes. As we got more involved in the traveling to contests we put more money into our comfort and convienience. With customized enclosed trailers and two-story gooseneck cooking trailers when we were at our extreme. We have come full circle, right sized out set-up and are back to tents and tote boxes on an open utility trailer. We do have insulated cookers too.

The success can still be there without all the technology and convenience.

Good Luck!
