Had to go walkabout (On a Road Trip ) to a small town In Central/north Victoria called Shepparton, It is mainly known for its Fruit Orchard’s and Canneries. But it is also the Home of the Famous Furphy Foundry that was established in the 1880’s – It’s main Item was the cast Iron water cart End’s, But it also made Camp Oven’s ( Dutch Oven’s ) and many other Cast Iron Item’s, the Foundry is still going to this Day although it’s main Industry is now Stainless Steel Wine Vat’s, But It still produces some excellent cast Iron Item’s and there Famous Camping Equipment ,
Now that you Guy’s have twisted Soeezy’s and Garry’s Arm to include this Dutch oven Header, I just had to get one and join in – But I didn’t just want to go and get the regular type from the Camp store’s that retail for around 40 bucks – I had to go and get the Famous furphy, So After A long drive I arrived at the furphy foundry and Introduced myself to the foundry Staff and had a tour of there old works, after having a good look around, I bought their 12’’ Model for 90 Bucks
Here are heaps of Photo’s of my walkabout road trip

Heading off from home – its a couple week’s into spring so all the blossoms are coming out and the green leaves are returning

Freeway out of the City is very quite this Morning

Time for a snack

Burger with the lot Thanks Mate

Arriving at the Foundry with a pleasant sprinkle of Rain

And Here are some of the Thing’s I found there

Have a look at This Relic

The New Foundry next to the Old

Bought a 12’’ Oven – They just come in a plane old cardboard Box – But it’s what’s on the Inside that counts

Unpacking to have a peek before the trip back Home

Set the sat Nav and Heading back Home

280 Kim’s to go

Cranking along

Need a pit Stop – Very Tranquil spot

Heading back through last summer’s Bush Fire Path – Great to see the country side Recovering after the Fires

Heading back towards the City – ‘’Nearly Home ‘’

Back Home Now – Seasoning the Camp ( Dutch Oven ) in the Gasser – Gave it a good wash in warm water and dishwashing liquid ,dried it off and gave it a good rub with Evvo and wacked it in the Gasser for about 3 Hour’s

Ready to Use

It was an enjoyable couple of Day’s – now I just need to join in with you Guy’s and start cooking something in it
Cheers

Brinnie thanks for sharing the walkabout. Very Happy

I nice to see a few pics other than close ups of food. It looks like it was a great day for a drive.

Congrats on the new DO! Can't wait for some action pics.

Any good looking recipes in that cook book? Smile

Brinnie, that is a fine looking Dutch Oven! Looks like it was worth the price. I don't know if I would have been able to walk out of there with just one item Smile

Pics of the trip were very cool. Nice to see pics of Spring even though the leaves are starting to fall over here. Makes me want to move down there for the next 6 months!

Looking forward to seeing the DO in action!

Beertooth - Thanks Robert Cool It was great to get away from the Daily grind for a while Very Happy - there is some things I might have a crack at in the book, but is was a very basic Book,
Happy to share the walkabout with you Cool

samson - Cheer's Samson, thank you Cool I think it is was well worth the price the quality is awesome, I have seen them on e-bay for around $130 and then you have to organise your own shipping.
Plus I got to go Walkabout to get it Laughing
