This post is inspired by jeepdad and dedicated to my Mother who spent her life raising 8 children and half of the neighborhood!

After making this today I gained a whole new respect for things baked from scratch. Although one of her specialty's was homemade bread, I was thinking of my Mother the whole time, how much time she must have spent in the kitchen preparing food for us all.

Good things take time. Happy Sunday!

Here we go

Warming up...

Added the seasoning...

Mmm...caramel

Caramel added...

Topping time!!!

Ready & resting...

Ahh......Perfect!

I found this recipe on this site: http://whatscookintew.blogspot.com/2009/07/dutch-oven-carmel-apple-crisp.html

Beertooth, nicely done. After talking with Mom about the cornbread we now plan to sit down and walk thru her many years of cooking and her recipe box. I am really looking forward to doing it and being able to pass it to the next generation after me. Again, well done!

whitey - I'm trying to ease into the whole D.O. thing. I tend to jump headfirst in to things. Only after my wife tasted the apple crisp, it shouldn't be too hard! Laughing

morick - Thanks bro!

Beertooth, the recipe calls for 1 cup of melted butter. Is this cup included in the the "buttered 12" Dutch oven" with the lemon juice? Or just for the crumbs? What did you do?

I buttered the DO up good using one stick, just enough to lube it good, not using the whole stick.

Then used a whole stick melted for the topping.

Wow. I just now noticed that it says "1 cup" not 1 stick. Embarassed Maybe I didn't use enough. Sad
