Way back when I lived in an apartment, I had one of those little cast iron hibachi grills. the kind with two little grates that could be adjusted up and down...

Similar to this one. It seemed to work ok for a couple of steaks or chops... Is this what you are referring to?

I have one in my camping kit. I love it. It works as well as any other open grill.

I wouldn't mind having a Lodge Hibachi under the Christmas tree for those special times at camp.

I, too, used one when I lived in an apartment in the 1980s. It's still in the garage. Very Happy

These look interesting. I chanced upon it a while ago: http://www.cobbq.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=22&cat=Cobb+Premier+Grills.

We had one like the pic in JamesB's post in the 70's, plus a round one that had a grate about the size of a WSJ. The main thing we used them for was grilling at the beach. They worked a lot better than digging a hole in the sand for a fire pit and placing a grill over the hole, especially for minimizing the sand in the food.

A friend got the Lodge Hibachi fr Christmas, great lil grill. I have an old Cat aluminum hibachi that used to be my dads... it is relegated to holding the charcoal starter right now,, But I could use one of those lodge grills,, nice looking piece of equipment.

I used my Lodge hibachi last week:

Does a Mini BGE qualify as a hibachi?
