I am cooking a brisket for the first time this weekend. I use a Big Green Egg for my smoker. I have read a lot about cooking times for brisket using traditional smoker. Will it change with a BGE because the heat is direct.

If your temps are the same (225-250) then your cooking times should be about the same.

Why are you cooking it direct?

plate setter-legs up, drip pan slightly elevated off of the plate setter, grate, and brisket with the point toward the back of the egg.

Why have the point facing the back?

Curiosity got me here.

Take care,

Brian

It just works out a little better that way.
The back of the BGE is a little hotter than the front.
The point has a higher fat content.

Thanks Mike, been using one for a year now. I did not know. I will "adjust" how I do them.

Take care,

Brian
