I ended up buying a used Stump Classic I just could not wait until November to get an Ole Hickory pit but maybe down the road I will get one. For the price and Ole Hickory is a better buy the an FEC

Well I don't have the FEC anymore it went with my BBQ trailer when I sold it, but I did like it

My max temp was 325 for the FEC any thing over that it would cut off.

I'm just keeping my options ...

Big Poppa's Smokers are the only one that sells them they are a lot cheaper than a CTO but still an Ole Hickory

I only use a weed burner to light the charcoal so that's not the problem. The uds is new to me so I know there is a learning curve next time I'll open the top vent a little more and maybe wait longer ...

I cooked a brisket on my uds today using Royal Oak lump and it tasted like I used lighter fluid any one else have that problem
