I know of several guys on here that will chime in on this, but I for one wouldn’t use 2x2; I used 2x3 on mine, and it’s a lot stronger in that 3” dimension, enough so that you could lighten up ...

https://www.flickr.com/gp/158860816@N06/29SAEn That’ll never work. You have to make these things out of steel. Steel is kind of a reddish brown and kinda crusty. I don’t know what that stuff is ...

Thanks for the replies. I am having no luck with any of these hosts. Looks like flickr is the only free one, and I was able to create an album but can't figure out how to get them into the forum. I do ...

You’re likely overthinking it, some of the other guys can tell you that better than I. One thing about it, though, the extra length isn’t 5” pipe; it’ll be a completely different volume and f ...

I was just thinking that a 3x3 grate would be stronger than a 3x6 grate of the same construction: probably easier to handle too. You might not be able to use the slide-out with a whole hog on it like ...

Just gut feeling, haven’t done the math, but I think you’re closer to overkill than insufficient here. Ever think about splitting that into two and doing slide-outs?

Brute force. Chain and a bottle jack works well, if you do some searching there’s a lot of people around here that have posted theirs. I used a 50 ton press.

I’d really like to know just how thick that frame metal was before I even thought about trying to truss it like that.

I’m still in the “really bad idea” camp on frankensteining that frame ...

In general, probably a pretty bad idea, but if you get an operator that knows what he’s doing and has a bit of common sense, I can see that it would have its appeal; I’ve got a propane grill just ...

The more I think about this, the more I think that trailer arrangement isn’t the best way to go. Car/pickup frames aren’t designed to be a strong trailer arrangement, they are designed to provide ...

How far are you going to be from the coupler with the end of the CC? Just visualizing it from your pictures, that’s going to put it awfully close to the point where left turns are pretty limited..

I’m not a fan of having to add weight to fix other problems. I think if I had to deal with that, I’d cut off the spring hangers and move the axle back; if you need to go past the current end of t ...
