Great idea, on the charcoal on the outside edge.

I didn't even try to bargin witht he owner when I went to see it. It was like brand new, he said he only cooked on it 2 times.

It sure was my lucky day.

will keep it on low and a little away from the smoker so it doesn't ash up the food.

I bought a Grill Care thermometer from walmart, $15 and some change.

Tested in boiling water 212 right on the button. Been working fine.
